About

Over the past 30 years I have practiced both Criminal and Civil law, dealing with wide ranging, complex issues. I have appeared before every District and Circuit Court in Genesee County countless times, as well as handled cases in 72 counties across Michigan. I’ve seen courts that have been models of how to dispense justice while improving the lives of those it serves, and I’ve seen courts that offer no more than a cookie cutter approach to the law. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, and I want to ensure the Grand Blanc and Fenton Courts are cutting edge examples for others to follow across the state. This is why I am running to replace Judge Christpher Odette, who is vacating his seat in the 67 th District Court.

As an attorney, I see each and every day how a strong sense of community can change someone’s life, give them a great start in this world, perhaps that second chance they need, or a third chance they have earned.  I’ve also seen what can happen when someone doesn’t have that safety net around them.

I’ve seen first-hand how easy it is for someone to spiral downward towards substance abuse, criminal behavior, and ultimately incarceration. The negative impact that can have on an individual is dire, and the ramification to those around them heartbreaking. The court system is needed to dispense justice to those who commit heinous crimes and bring a small bit of peace and closure to their victims. However, the majority of those who appear before the legal system are people who have made mistakes, who have committed nonviolent crimes, who have made victims out of themselves.  For those individuals, our court system should be in the business of second chances.

We all should be goal oriented in making sure each individual that interacts with the legal system leaves it better than when they arrived. That job begins and ends with the judges who serve on the bench, and that is the type of judge I will be for this community.I look forward to the campaign ahead, I look forward to knocking on doors in each and every community I strive to serve, meeting and speaking with the amazing residents of this district. This is not my campaign, this is our campaign. We will win it together!
